Landis+Gyr Scores Among Top 5% in EcoVadis Sustainability Rating

The Company has earned the Gold Recognition Level, after being assessed in the areas of environment, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Cham, Switzerland – March 11, 2021 – In its first assessment as a group Landis+Gyr Group AG (LAND.SW) achieved 66 out of 100 points and was awarded a Gold level rating for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance. This puts the company in the top 6% within the category of ‘Manufacture of measuring, testing, navigating and control equipment’ and top 5% across all industries. With a growing number of Landis+Gyr’s customers relying on independent sustainability rating providers like EcoVadis to measure business sustainability performance, the score reiterates Landis+Gyr’s continuous efforts to meet the highest standards in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives and its commitment to manage energy better.

“Sustainability is part of our DNA”, said Hans Sonder, Senior Vice President Business Transformation at Landis+Gyr. “In fact, our smart meters and grid edge intelligence sensors have helped people and utilities around the globe save millions of tons of CO2. It is very rewarding to see that, in a year of COVID-19, our efforts towards a more sustainable world bear fruit not only for our customers but also for our own company.” The EcoVadis assessment reconfirmed Landis+Gyr’s strong position in the environmental area, but also highlighted improvement fields: “After the successful roll-out of our new Code of Business Ethics and Conduct, and Supplier Code of Conduct, we’re currently working on improving reporting and our due diligence process to strengthen responsible behavior across our entire supply chain”, said Sonder.

EcoVadis’ assessment focuses on 21 sustainability criteria that are grouped into four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. These criteria are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the ISO 26000 standard, the CERES Roadmap, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, also known as the Ruggie Framework.

In 2020, Landis+Gyr reported on its ESG efforts according to GRI Core for the first time and has signed up to the UN Global Compact.
